“The name is a concept: the ghosts of the people who lived through that [the Dust Bowl] are in the spirit of our songs. But now they’re standing outside closed factories or working in warehouses without benefits. If they’re lucky they got student debt.” - Brandon Webb

Dust Bowl Era formed at the end of August 2012 for what was only meant to be a one-off show. The arrangements for nine tracks were sketched out in a few rehearsals, all based around the songs Brandon was then writing. After receiving a positive reaction at the show, and wanting to document these new songs before Justin’s departure to Vancouver, the band decided to do a quick recording. A memento.

Dust Bowl Era recorded late one night at Montreal’s CCTV Studios in a single live take, just a few hours before Justin’s departure back to the West coast.

After finishing playing their set and listening back to the session, the band realized they had captured something special. Something more than just a personal memento. They had a record. The magic corked in the bottle. A swirling mist of dust contained within.
